Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about measuring, fitting, options, and care.

1. What’s the difference between Recess and Exact Measurements?

Recess measurement means this is the exact size of the opening, with no deductions.

Exact measurement is the recess measurement with a tolerance deducted to allow the blind to fit inside the window reveal.

2. What’s the difference between inside mount and outside mount?

Inside mount fits within the window frame for a clean, built-in look.

Outside mount is installed above or around the window and offers better light blockage and privacy.

3. What types of blinds are available?

Common options include:

  • Venetian blinds (wood, faux wood, aluminium)
  • Roller blinds
  • Vertical blinds
  • Roman blinds
  • Cellular (honeycomb) blinds
  • Zebra or day-night blinds
4. Which blinds are best for blocking light?

Blackout roller blinds, cellular blinds, and Roman blinds with blackout lining provide the best light control.

5. Are blinds easy to install?

We recommend that all blinds are installed by our team of specialists. We also provide you with a 1 year fitting guarantee.

6. Are blinds safe for children and pets?

Cordless blinds or motorised blinds are the safest options. They reduce the risk associated with hanging cords.

7. How do I clean and maintain blinds?
  • Dust regularly with a cloth or vacuum brush
  • Use a damp cloth for deeper cleaning
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, especially on wood blinds
8. Can blinds be customised?

Yes. Many blinds can be customised by size, colour, material, and control type (corded, cordless, or motorised).

9. What blinds are best for bathrooms and kitchens?

Moisture-resistant blinds such as PVC, aluminium, or faux wood blinds are ideal for humid areas.

10. Do blinds help with insulation?

Yes. Cellular blinds are especially effective at insulating windows and helping regulate room temperature.

11. How long do blinds typically last?

With proper care, quality blinds can last 7 to 10 years or more, depending on material and usage.

12. Can I motorise my blinds?

Many modern blinds offer motorised or smart home options that can be controlled by remote, app, or voice assistant.
